Ambitious star shoots and scores

Name: Lo Hung-leuk

Grade: Form Seven

School: St Stephen's Church College

Sport: Basketball

Achievements: Hung-leuk, 18, led his school team to victory in a recent three-on-three tournament at the Hong Kong Coliseum.

St Stephen's Church College was the winning boys' team in the tournament, which featured nearly 100 schools. They beat CMA Secondary School in the final.

His performance in the event led to his selection for the adidas Hong Kong All-Stars team, which represented Hong Kong in the Asian Streetball Finals in Guangzhou last week.

He is also a member of the Hong Kong youth team which will compete in the Asian Youth Championships in Urumqi this week.

His school won the Hong Kong Island Division Two inter-school title in 2005, and Heung-leuk is a regular player for Division Two club Mao Fung.

Soundbite: 'Basketball is about style as much as strength and stamina. There are many different skills involved, and it is a sport where you can express yourself.

'I like playing in a team. You can meet people, and learn new skills from each other.'

From his coach: 'Hung-leuk has developed some good skills and is already a Hong Kong youth team member. I think he can continue to improve and win more honours,' said coach Yung Kam-wah.

Ambitions: Hung-leuk aims to play in Division A1 of the local league, and wants to break into the Hong Kong senior team soon.

He plans to go to university in Hong Kong next year.
