Shark's fin soup a hit with NBA star

NBA star Tracy McGrady [known as T-Mac], who drew a crazy crowd at Wan Chai's Southorn Stadium yesterday, says the city's shark's fin soup had impressed him.

The Houston Rockets shooting guard is visiting Hong Kong for the second time. This was the final stop of his four-city tour in Asia to promote Adidas.

'It was fantastic to be in Hong Kong again,' he says. 'This is the first time I've had shark's fin soup in my life.'

Standing at 203cm, he looked like a giant among the Hong Kong players. He also gave basketball tips to the kids during a five-minute 3-on-3 match. He was obviously in a laid-back mood, and did not sweat even when he missed the baskets.

T-Mac did not comment directly on his teammate Yao Ming, but he did say that Asian basketball had improved considerably. He expressed regret over his scores last season, which he blamed on injuries.

'It was my worst performance,' he confessed.

The star officiated the opening of the new Adidas Sport Performance store in Tsim Sha Tsui last night - the biggest in Asia.
