British vocalist Marjorie Mullings (pictured), who performs at the Armani Bar this Thursday, once had former American president Bill Clinton, Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger and Hong Kong film star Jackie Chan among her guests.

'These people are often more normal than normal people,' she says. 'They are more appreciative, don't talk too much and always act in a humble way. Many of them are fans of jazz. Mick Jagger performs rock music but he actually likes chill-out tunes a lot. Bill Clinton can actually play the saxophone himself.'

As for Chan, Mullings says she remembers him well for being a funny, approachable man. 'He's got really good jokes and he's very easily pleased.'

Trained in opera, she decided to turn her versatile talent to jazz and blues six years ago because the songs related more to people.

Jazz also comes to the Kee Club this week, with a performance by British jazz singer Alexia Gardner tomorrow.
