Fatherly advice

IN Back Chat (Sunday Morning Post, December 12), Owen Hughes, father of one, was obviously so excited by the thought of father-of-four, youthful-looking Martin Clarke corrupting ''impressionable adolescents'' with his chocolate-mousse mouthing - that he omitted to check his facts.

If Mr Hughes had taken the trouble to tune in to Teen Time, he would have heard it was presented by the squeaky-clean Ian Pooler and the utterly wholesome Cheri Chan. Well never let the truth stand in the way of a good story.

Martin Clarke, currently off-air, did, when ''really'' youthful, take his clothes off - on television, for money, though that is hardly tit-for-tat. By the time the father-of-four returns to the ''drive-time'' show in January, which does have a segment for kids, he will, we promise, have been re-educated by his producer Cindy Wieringa and the other female members of staff at Radio 3.

I, mother of two, have personally organised a whip-round to buy Martin a bowl and spoon.
