Who was that harbour hero?
LAST Friday while strolling on the waterfront at Victoria Harbour I heard urgent shouting from the water's edge. Apparently someone had fallen into the harbour and was drowning.
A young man with great courage jumped into the water and kept him afloat until a ferry drew close enough for a crew member to throw a line.
The pair were landed ashore, the victim unconscious but breathing.
The police, ambulance service, and marine police were soon at the scene, and the victim was given first aid and taken away.
My hope is that the young man who affected this rescue is somehow identified and acknowledged for his selfless heroism. DALTON DEEDRICK Lacombe, Alberta, Canada
