Companies involved in the retail end of travel are benefiting from an increase in tourism in Hong Kong, with one identifiable group being the free independent traveller (FIT). A leading retailer is looking for a professional

who understands the needs of this unique sector to help promote its products.

Duty Free Shoppers Hong Kong is hiring a sales and marketing manager to develop strategies, tactics and execution for the FIT market; broadly defined as couples or small groups travelling together who are over the age of 35 and often of above-average income. The ideal candidate is a degree holder in marketing, business, commerce or hospitality with a minimum of 10 years' relevant work experience and at least three years in a management role.

The incumbent will need to develop FIT marketing strategies and tactics and be responsible for the business performance and sales targets. Applicants will be sharp, independent and able to use their initiative and seize opportunities where necessary.

An individual with strong communication skills in English and Mandarin is needed to identify partnerships in related industries, and to build the network and systems. Using these skills, candidates will improve contacts and intelligence with tourism boards and government authorities.

Creative-minded candidates will develop and implement marketing, promotional and reward programmes. An eye for detail is also needed to analyse, report and present business plans to management when necessary.
