Alex McQueen of DeA Tigers gets hold of Synovate Hong Kong Cricket Club's Simon Hempel during the First Division Cup final of the Union Sevens at Hong Kong Stadium yesterday. However, defending champions DeA were not nearly as effective as McQueen, and were trounced 38-0.

For all the sparks flying off the pitch because of the furore over the ticket sales for the Hong Kong Sevens, there were few fireworks on it as yesterday's tournament did little to take disgruntled punters' minds off not getting a sevens ticket.

In the First Division Cup final, HKCC had the game sown up after only three minutes of the first half, racing into a 19-0 lead thanks to tries from Paul Morehu, Gareth Arlidge and Tom Nelson and two conversions from Arlidge.

Further tries from Colin Bisley, and another each from Nelson and Arlidge, plus two Arlidge conversations sealed an emphatic victory for HKCC.

In the other First Division finals, G4S Kowloon defeated Generali Causeway Bay 26-19, while Crown Valley ran out winners of the Plate competition 17-12 over CBRE Club.
