Light up Times Square

Coca-Cola

Christmas is just around the corner and it's time to do something fun.

Organised by Coca Cola, Milk Magazine and Times Square, the spectacular LED Throwies Christmas Graffiti party is inviting young people from all over the city to participate in a collective display of action and creativity.

To join in, all you need to do is gather as many friends as possible at 6.30pm next Thursday under the big Christmas tree at Times Square in Causeway Bay.

Hundreds of glowing LED throwies - small devices with an LED light attached to a coin battery and magnet - will be given out by Coca Cola.

Participants can spice up the metallic tree using the throwies in whatever imaginative ways they can think of.

Coca Cola also suggests participants record the display with their digital cameras and post the videos on YouTube, sending Christmas greetings, Hong Kong-style, around the world.

LED throwies parties originated from New York. Throngs of street artists gather around an architectural target and wait for a signal to begin tagging the devices up onto metallic surfaces.

The commotion usually attracts crowds of passers-by who end up joining in.

The action is captured on digital video and posted on YouTube.
