Each dog has a unique skill. For example, Akane, an Australian Shepherd gifted with musical talent, will perform a Christmas piano recital. Some of the dog stars are Guinness World Record-holding rope skippers.

The circus is led by Uchida Hiroaki, who transforms abandoned dogs into acrobatic stars.

'It's not difficult to train the dogs because each dog has specific talent. We don't have any criteria in recruiting the dogs.

'Any dog could become the star of the circus,' Hiroaki said.

'We just have to be patient with them. We train them as if we were playing with them.'

Statue Square in Central has been transformed into a Santa town, featuring a gigantic 10-storey Christmas tree.

Christmas carols and live entertainment will be staged on Fridays, weekends and festive days until January 1.

Characters from Ocean Park and Disneyland will be performing in Statue Square on December 23, Christmas Eve, and Boxing Day.

Head to Hong Kong Park's Olympic Square on Christmas Eve at 5pm. Award-winning violinist Huang Mengla will join 300 local musicians in a free concert by RTHK Radio 4.

Huang will be joined by the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong and the Chorus of the Opera Society of Hong Kong, together with a combined chorus from Diocesan Girls' School Choir, Wah Yan College, and the Kowloon Boys' Choir, to perform Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria and Four Seasons.

Meanwhile, a choir from South Island School will perform carols on Tuesday at 7pm, at St John's Cathedral in Central. Joined by the schools' teaching staff, parents and alumni, the choir will perform Star Carol by John Rutter and Messiah by Handel. Admission is free. Donations will go to the church's HIV Education Centre.

All-female a capella group Coco's Lunch from Australia will perform from now until the Boxing Day at IFC Mall. The five-member vocal group has spent 10 years performing throughout Australia and Asia.

Last but not least, eight seven-foot Christmas stocking sculptures and 400 colourful two-dimensional Christmas stockings, created by hundreds of local students, are on display at Langham Place in Mong Kok.

The students took part in a series of workshops organised by the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation.

The giant stockings, inspired by the works of Pablo Picasso, Yoshitomo Nara and Joan Miro, are made from newspaper, wallpaper, photos and fabric.

The smaller versions are decorated with beads, sequins and shimmering powder.
