Library opens doors

A new public library has been opened to serve residents in the Tin Shui Wai district.

Located at the Tin Chak Estate shopping centre, the Tin Shui Wai North Public Library has an initial stock of more than 50,000 titles. Its facilities include adults' and children's sections, quick reference collection, newspapers and periodicals, as well as an activities room.

There are computers with internet access, while readers can also search for books online. Automatic charging terminals have also been installed to make check-out services fast and easy. A book-drop inside the complex - the first of its kind in public libraries - will help reduce queues at the service counter.

The library, which opened last Wednesday, will work closely with schools and community organisations in the district and encourage block loan services.

It will be open from 9am-8pm Tuesday to Friday; 9am-5pm on Saturday; and 9am-1pm on Sunday and public holidays. It is closed on Mondays.
