The assignment seemed straightforward enough: to create a monthly magazine that reflected the dynamic lifestyle trends in modern society today. And it was on the plush sofas of Lan Kwai Fong's Illy Cafe that the STYLE team envisaged a glossy periodical that would have personalities, trends, photoshoots and, most importantly, relevance to the ever-increasing circle of sophisticated consumers in Hong Kong.

As the saying goes, time flies when you are having fun. And I could not agree more. After 14 successful issues in 2006, STYLE has come full circle with its first anniversary issue, The Luxe Life. As always, our in-house team and contributors have found the best news, products and personalities that epitomise luxury in the areas of fashion, travel, beauty and motoring.

I hope a sublime photoshoot of supermodel Yasmin Le Bon in Tokyo, featuring garments of decadent materials such as silk, fur and leather, will whet your appetite. Going off the beaten track, in our feature about 'private destinations', we find out how style mavens like to travel. If wheels are your calling, writer Mathew Scott discovers that the most luxurious cars on the road today are designed with the passengers' needs in mind.

We also catch up with the ever-stylish Maggie Cheung and trace her many looks over the years, and we profile design dynamo Ron Arad. Our Hit List features the most decadent beauty products, limited-edition accessories and all that glitters.

Of course, this would not be possible if it weren't for the dedication of the team and our network of photographers, stylists, correspondents and writers who work tirelessly to bring STYLE to life. We plan to keep surprising you throughout 2007.
