Ladder to success as art imitates life

Steve Cray

Pupils from Hong Kong's pioneering 'fame' school take their first steps up the ladder to stardom next week when they perform their improvised drama The Story Behind Our Family Objects.

The 14 Form Four pupils from HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity in Hung Hom (above in rehearsal) will perform the play next Sunday at the Cattle Depot Artists' Village as part of the 'Young Friends' section of the Hong Kong Arts Festival.

The drama, overseen by On and On Theatre Workshop and professional instructors from Hong Kong and abroad, came from the players. 'The stories came from the students themselves and were the result of a range of activities, including games and debates,' said On and On co-ordinator Orlean Lai Wan-yin. Performances will be at 3pm and 8pm. Tel 2828 4904 or view www.yfs.artsfestival.org
