Hunk of burning love
Hardly have the Christmas baubles been packed away when, in typical Hong Kong fashion, it's time to hop on board the commercial lurve wagon that is Valentine's Day. An early press release from the Royal Garden Hotel in Kowloon is advertising for luvvy-duvvy couples to come to their 'Make your wish come true this Valentine's Day' buffets - with an added twist. Couples who attend the romantic Valentine's dinner buffet can make a wish apparently with the hotel's special hydrogen balloons.
Hydrogen?
'Actually the couple can write down their wishes and we tie them to the hydrogen balloons, which will be pink and heart-shaped, and then we float them up in our 110ft tall Atrium,' said the hotel's assistant public relations manager, Vicky Ho.
Now, being Mills and Boon aficionados here at CitySeen, where heroes and heroines experience crashing waves and burning passions, we appreciate that love can be a fiery affair. However, for fear of a repeat of the Hindenburg zeppelin, we don't advise couples to have the flambeed creme brulee at the same time as making their hydrogen balloon wishes.
'Ah, yes, I think that's meant to be helium balloon,' said Ms Ho.
Not half as funny, but safer, and you can suck on the end and impress your other half by saying 'Will you marry me?' in a silly, high-pitched voice.
