Master of Business Administration with a specialism in Innovation and Design Management, the Graduate School of Business and the School of Design, Hong Kong Polytechnic University


Offered within the Postgraduate Scheme in Business, this programme is taught jointly by the Graduate School of Business and the School of Design. This part-time programme takes two years to complete. It focuses on management within the context of innovation and design, providing a platform for students to share innovative ideas in a synergistic learning environment. In the first year, students take core business subjects in accounting, finance, marketing and organisational behaviour with MBA students from other specialisms. In the second year they take four concentration subjects and an elective, which focus on innovation and design. A capstone subject in management policy and strategy, which includes an applied business project, rounds out the programme. Requirements A bachelor's degree or postgraduate degree or postgraduate diploma in any area or equivalent professional qualification and a minimum of five years' experience at managerial or professional level in a related industry. Mature applicants aged 35years and over without academic qualifications but with at least eight years of experience in a senior managerial or professional position may be considered. Master of Science in Multimedia and Entertainment Technology, School of Design, Hong Kong Polytechnic University


This programme has full- and part-time streams. The full-time stream can be completed in 12 months, including a project, or nine months of full-time study and six months of part-time study with a placement option. The part-time stream is targeted at students working full-time. They can complete the programme in up to three years. Classes are scheduled during the day and in the evening, and are targeted at those working in or wanting to work in the digital entertainment industry. There are 12 core modules. Requirements A bachelor's degree, preferably in a related field. Mature students with substantial professional experience in the field also considered. Good English is an advantage. Cost HK$3,100 per credit subject. Students with the right of abode in Hong Kong and others meeting certain conditions are eligible to apply for the government's non-means tested loan scheme (for more information see: www.sfaa.gov. hk/eng/schemes/nlss.htm.) A number of scholarships donated by various organisations and individuals are available. Master of Design, School of Design, Hong Kong Polytechnic University


This programme has two streams, and two more will be added next year. The stream in advanced practices focuses on the formal aspects of design development. The advanced strategies stream focuses on the interrelationship between design, business and technology. The interaction design stream seeks to join theory and action by putting people first in the people/technology equation. The higher education design stream seeks to join theory and action by exploring various pedagogical theories. The advanced practices and interaction design are one-year, full-time programmes. The advanced strategies stream is a part-time, two-year programme. The higher design education stream can be studied part- or full-time. Requirements A bachelor's degree in design or related discipline or its equivalent. Applicants should also submit a portfolio. Candidates with other tertiary qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Students who did not complete their bachelor's at an English-medium institution should demonstrate their proficiency with an acceptable IELTS or TEFL score and they usually attend an interview in English. Master of Arts in Fashion and Textile Design, Faculty of Applied Science and Technology and Institute of Textiles and Clothing, Hong Kong Polytechnic University


This is a one-year full-time programme aimed at providing designers with an in-depth understanding of global fashion trends and requirements. There is an emphasis on artistic expression, creative application, design conceptualisation and independent research. Students also develop a range of design-oriented, decision-making skills. Majors are offered in fashion design, knitwear design and textile design. The programme comprises seven core subjects, a personal project and a final assessment and presentation. Requirements A bachelor's degree or equivalent in textiles or fashion design. Students with a bachelor's degree in a related field plus relevant industrial experience will also be considered. Cost HK$3,000 per credit (subject to review). Enrolment deadline April 1, 2007
