For IT professionals. A distance learning programme suitable for graduates with honours in computing or related fields, and IT professionals needing advanced training in IT with emphasis on internet applications. Requirements bachelor's degree with honours in computing or related fields or bachelor's degree in computing or equivalent plus one year of IT experience; or the university's Postgraduate Certificate in Information Technology. Cost HK$76,500 (60 credits). Aid means tested student loan from the university, interest-free tuition loans offered through the university's MasterCard, non-means tested loan scheme from the government and some courses are reimbursable under the CEF. Master of Science in Electronic Commerce and Internet Computing MSc(ECom & IComp), The University of Hong Kong


Aims to bridge business and technology. Teaches business executives, policymakers and decision makers, and IT professionals the latest in technology development and business opportunities in e-commerce. Requirements for the electronic commerce stream: bachelor's degree in a relevant field (business, commerce, marketing, information systems or equivalent). For the internet computing stream: bachelor's degree in a relevant field (computer science, computer engineering, electrical and electronic engineering or related fields). Programme emphasises strategic planning, designing and managing new systems and methods for improving information systems and the processes involved in moving to new or revised systems. Database system structure and function and computer network operations included. Server programming skills to allow creation of online business. Covers issues of security and internet marketing. Accredited by the British Computer Society. Requirement Second-class honours degree that involves significant levels of IT, or IT work experience combined with an honours degree in any discipline. MSc in Information Systems Management, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology


A 16-month part-time programme for information system managers who do not have a basic degree in IT. Core courses: introduction to information strategy and economics, applied network management (Cisco Intro), computer and internet security management, foundations of electronic commerce, software project management and operations management. Requirements bachelor's degree, two years of working experience and satisfactory GMAT score. Cost HK$105,000 total. Aid continuing education fund (CEF) up to HK$10,000. Master of Science in Computer Science MSc(CompSc), The University of Hong Kong


Coursework programme which trains in data engineering, software engineering, computer systems, biocomputing, human-computer interaction and foundations of computer science. Training in scientific foundation and IT principles including advanced database transaction systems, data mining, analysis and design of enterprise applications in UML, software quality assurance, computer and network security, embedded system and pervasive computing, high-performance computing, the wireless internet and mobile computing, cluster and grid computing, computer technologies for bioinformatics, computational molecular biology, image processing and computer vision and multimedia technologies. Requirements bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent and may satisfy the examiners in a qualifying examination if required. Cost HK$80,400 in total. The composition fee for each course is HK$6,700 (subject to change). If a student wishes to study a course from the MSc (ECom & IComp) programme it will cost HK$10,800 per course, increasing the cost of the programme accordingly. Aid CEF. A two-year part-time programme for IT degree-holders with work experience. Teaches the practical design, construction, theory and usage of advanced information systems. Requirements bachelor's degree in computer science or related fields, at least second class honours, or an average grade of B or better in undergraduate courses; or completed a tertiary course and having obtained professional qualifications equivalent to an honours degree; or graduated with a first degree in other fields and have extensive computer-related experience. Needs to meet the English Language Proficiency Requirement as stipulated by the Graduate School. Cost HK$80,000 total. Aid not applicable. Enrolment deadline January 20, 2007
