In a master stroke that will literally make other chandeliers pale in comparison, Schonbek's Da Vinci chandelier (below) can be loaded into a dishwasher to slough off grime - apparently a world first. Which means no more tricky drip cleaning or the chore that beats most in terms of tedium: removing and hand washing each crystal. The Da Vinci, apparently also the first to be perfectly spherical, requires a minimum of one regular cycle to clean and after washing, promises, 'will look brighter than new, the crystal dazzling, the stainless-steel frame gleaming'. The Da Vinci chandelier costs from HK$1,995 to HK$17,495 from Cefion (418 Jaffe Road, Wan Chai, tel: 3580 0988) for sizes ranging from 25cm to 60cm in diameter. Prices differ for Strass and Swarovski Spectra crystal.
