Final credits roll on Witty asian cinema blog

One of the best and most entertaining Asian cinema blogs, Kaijushakedown.com, has decided to disappear into the sunset.

The amusing site, run by American Grady Hendrix and edited by Variety magazine's Alex Romanelli, made its final posting last Friday.

They called it quits primarily because Romanelli is leaving Variety and the blog was run through the movie trade publication's website.

We'll miss their astute in-jokes, Asian-Hollywood scoops and sarky comments - example: '[Hong Kong filmmaker] Benny Chan, director of more 'that wasn't as bad as it could have been' movies than I care to count, is all lined up to start work on his next project...' One of the last titbits from the site was the revelation that Martin Scorsese told MTV that like the makers of Infernal Affairs, he is considering turning The Departed into a trilogy too.

Where else can we find such info now? They'll be missed.
