You have your say on the Eric Clapton concert
I was gratified to see that someone other than myself was disappointed with the Eric Clapton concert. No, the problem was not Clapton's playing or even his silence towards the audience.
My criticism is aimed primarily at the venue. Perhaps it is great for trade shows, but it sure stinks as a concert hall.
Sitting in the back section was pure misery. I don't know if HK$1,388 bought a more comfortable seat and leg room, but HK$588 bought a 'Tinker Toy' model that was uncomfortable for even my shorter Chinese friend.
Apparently a person of my height, 180cm, was beyond the imagination of AsiaWorld-Expo CEO Nicolas Borit and the venue's design staff. My knees were jammed up into the neck of the poor guy sitting in front of me.
I was hoping that people would dance, but that was not the case. My balcony end was as still as a morgue, not a head wagging or foot tapping.
In his January 24 column, Kevin Sinclair described the terrible sound quality as 'shrill and tinny'. The word 'craptastic' popped into my mind.
