Have Your Say

Passionate about my hobby

The first step I took in ballet shoes was when I was five. I have been crazily in love with ballet ever since.

Shoes are an important accessory for ballet. Primary dancers can only wear soft ballet shoes; advanced dancers can wear pointe shoes.

I looked forward to owning a pair of pointe shoes when I was small. I finally got a pair at the age of 12. It was like a dream come true.

The moment I bought my shoes was unforgettable.

My first pair of pointe shoes mean a lot to me. They make me feel like a professional dancer. They represent the improvement in my ballet technique. I think I will never forget them.

Missing the joys of the countryside

When I was young, I lived in the countryside. I loved to look up and see the stars at night.

The air was fresh and clear and the stars were very beautiful.

Now that I am living in town, I am finding it very difficult to see the stars.

The fresh air has disappeared and its often smoggy.

I hope I can see the stars again in the future.

Don't get lost in the virtual world

Millions of people spend their spare time playing the latest computer games and surfing the internet.

Students are spending more and more time playing in the virtual world.

Sometimes, they think the virtual world reflects reality.

It is easy for a girl to get carried away while playing a romantic computer game and imagine she is actually the main character.

She may start to think that the real world follows the same rules as the ones in the game.

This may mean she develops unrealistic expectations.

Do you sometimes get lost in a virtual world?

If you spend more time in the imaginary world than talking to real people, you better watch out.

We should all try to cherish our youth and treasure the time we have for studying.

We have the chance to build ourselves a wonderful future, so don't get lost in an unreal world.

Trip to Beijing made me feel proud

When my parents took me to Beijing in 2000, it was an unforgettable trip. We went there wanting to know more about Chinese culture.

The trip was so impressive because I saw the mainland was prosperous, and this made me feel proud.

They have many amazing sites, such as Tiananmen Square, the old hutongs and the Imperial palace.

When I went to the Great Wall, it was raining. Many people wore raincoats. Unfortunately, I slipped and a lot of people stared at me. I felt embarrassed, so I left there quickly.

I want go to Beijing again, so I can see the Great Wall properly.

Treasure life

My class teacher told us he may be suffering from nasal cancer. We were all shocked at the news.

He said he will quit his job so he can spend time with his family. He says he may not have much time left.

I've often wondered what I would do if I knew my life was limited.

I have many fantastic plans, but I've never done anything concrete like treasuring the time I spend with my mum, dad and sister.

I can't even stop myself from arguing with them.

It would be awful to run out of time to do all the things you want.

But at the moment, my only wish is that my teacher doesn't have to suffer from cancer.

Give it a try

My cousin has just graduated from university with a master's degree.

I remember years ago, she hesitated about whether she was suited to the faculty she chose, and whether she had the ability to keep up with the curriculum.

She did not have confidence in herself.

But a few years later, she found her way, and she started to do well.

She once said to me, 'It may be tough if you fail, but you are doomed if you don't try.'

We never know our ability before we try our best to achieve.

Appreciate your family and friends

I recently read a newspaper article about how society changes as we move into the modern world.

While in rural communities people used to rely on each other, in big cities, you can live next door to someone and never know their name.

Some things will be lost as the world moves forward, but as long as we have hope and we believe in the innate goodness of humanity, we can still live happily.

After I read this newspaper article, I have learned that family and friends are very important.

You are responsible for school spirit

I'm very disappointed with some of my schoolmates.

I've heard them say that some schools are better than others, and that the students at these schools must be more intelligent.

But what makes a school well known and respected?

The answer is the students. Only students can change the spirit and reputation of the school.

Although a schools' history is not good, do not worry and feel ashamed to study there, because the future is in our hands.

Retain our heritage

I wish the government had listened to the people and put a stop to the demolition of the Star Ferry clock tower.

The chimes of the clock made the most beautiful music in the harbour.

The loss of the tower is the loss of another monument of Hong Kong's past.

Many people protested against the demolition as there is already enough space for new buildings in Hong Kong.

Everyone loved the clock tower and it was a great tourist attraction. I hope the government will rebuild it using the original bricks.

I also learned from reading the Young Post that other old buildings may be torn down.

I hope the government will keep these buildings. It would be a great pity if we were lost them as well.

Neglectful mother

I read a news article about a mother who left her two sons unattended in a village house while she visited the mainland with her boyfriend.

Her neighbour heard her sons crying and called the police.

The police arrested the mother.

I was shocked by the story. It is very dangerous to leave such young children alone.

She deserved to be arrested.
