Fifteen-year-old Ginger Mak Jun-wi fired a final round five-over-par 77 at the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final at Mission Hills Golf Club yesterday to end the tournament as Hong Kong's best placed player. Ginger's three-round total of 235 earned the Canadian International School student a respectable fifth place in the under-16 girls' division, 23 strokes behind overall girls' winner Hsieh Yu-ling of Taiwan. Ginger's twin sister, Demi Mak Jun-ki, finished a further two shots adrift.

In the boys' division, 14-year-old Steven Lam Tsz-fung played his best golf of the week, carding a credible even par 72 to finish the under-16 boys' division in 11th place, while Jimmy Ko Ming-chak posted a second consecutive 79 to finish the under-18 boys' division in seventh.

Both fell well short of overall champion Nakarin Ratanakul of Thailand, however, whose sublime five-under-par round 67 gave him a comfortable six-stroke victory over England's Ben Evans. Along with the silverware, the 18-year-old from Bangkok earns a highly coveted berth in the Volvo Masters of Asia, the season-ending event on the Asian Tour.
