Join the Light Bulb Campaign and save energy

I'm writing in response to the article 'It's time to switch over' (Young Post, January 25).

Humans consume large amounts of energy and raw materials, and contribute to air pollution, acid rain, global warming and ozone depletion.

We must take action to tackle the problems. The light bulb campaign is a good start.

We should all save energy. We should use energy-efficient electrical appliances.

Secondly, we should recycle whatever we can.

Thirdly, we should use public transport and reduce consumption of plastic bags.

If we all work together, we can make a difference.

CANDY CHEUNG

Leung Shek Chee College Thanks for your letter, Candy. It's good to hear that you like the sound of the Young Post's Light Bulb Campaign, which has set out to encourage people to switch their light bulbs to environmentally friendly ones.

I'd like to take this opportunity to praise Daisy Ho Yeuk Han of Good Hope School. Daisy and her family have embraced the campaign and have switched 12 of their regular bulbs to environmentally-friendly ones. Well done Daisy.

In addition to using less energy, the green bulbs also mean lower electricity bills. If you have managed to switch bulbs, tell us about it. E-mail your name, school and the number of bulbs you have changed to [email protected] - with Light Bulb Campaign in the subject line.
