Edison Chen Koon-hei said his new entertainment firm wouldn't sign newcomers on the same level as when he joined the industry seven years ago.

Chen recently founded Clot Media Division with Singaporean musician-composer Hanjin Tan and local DJ-producer Tommy (aka Cheung Chun-wai). On top of the music production and projects, they'll sign new artists to offer something different in the local market.

'If there's an artist out there now who has the same talent as I had seven years ago then we probably wouldn't sign him - the Edison Chen at that time didn't really know what music was all about,' the 26-year- old said. 'We're looking for newcomers who have talents and abilities. We don't want to waste six, seven years on making a new artist. We hope we can see some achievements within a couple of years.'

Chen, who aims to retire as an actor-singer at 32, said his company had signed a couple of females.

'Hanjin said we should sign someone who is the female answer of Edison Chen, but who can sing and dance,' he said.

Chen (below left with DJ Tommy and Tan) said that had he set up his company a few years ago, he might have signed his sister, Tricia Chen Kin-fei. But he said she was no longer interested in showbusiness, and was heading in other directions.

The Dog Bite Dog actor said he and Tan were producing an independent movie.
