South China Morning Post photographers scooped seven prizes at the Hong Kong Press Photographers Association awards yesterday.
Martin Chan led the way with four awards, coming top in the features section with a photo of a pregnant woman pressing a Mark Six ticket against her stomach.
He also claimed the first runner-up spot in the sports category for a picture of a rugby match, while a shot of lawmaker Albert Ho Chun-yan in a hospital bed after being attacked by thugs earned him third place in the spot news section.
To round off, he received a merit in general news for his shot of Fanny Law Fan Chiu-fun hugging her then boss, education minister Arthur Li Kwok-cheung, on her last day as permanent secretary.
Felix Wong won in the sports class with an image of a fallen triathlete in the Doha Asian Games, and was second runner-up in the people section for a shot of Australian scientist Tim Flannery in the rain. Ricky Chung also won a merit in sports for a photo of another rugby match.
