Michelle's sparkling accessories

At the Landmark atrium on Monday, luxury jeweller Adler kicked off a design competition encouraging budding creators to submit an entry. The best three chosen by a panel of judges will be produced and their designers will be sent to a jewellery training programme overseas. Acting as ambassador for the competition, Michelle Reis arrived draped in HK$2 million worth of bling and teasingly suggested she is something of a hobby artisan herself.

'I never learned jewellery design but I have made some small accessories as gifts which I was very pleased with,' Reis said. 'I like streamlined designs. I think it's very feminine.'

No doubt she had plenty of time last year to tool around with jewellery charms and accessories. The only recent acting Reis has done is as spokeswoman for a few brands. However, since she is almost always romantically linked to tycoons, the latest of which is Julian Hui Chun-hang, paying the bills is probably not an issue.

'I did three commercials last year. If there are good jobs coming up then I'll take them. Otherwise I'll just go with the flow.'

As George Gershwin wrote, nice work, if you can get it.
