Homosexuality. The recent RTHK TV programme about homosexuality caused a stir. Some conservative people made angry phone calls to RTHK claiming the show promoted homosexuality.  I think they overreacted. The show was an objective portrayal of the lives of homosexuals in Hong Kong. While I object to discrimination based on one's sexual orientation, I don't particularly support homosexuals. They draw too much attention to themselves. They always feel they are being suppressed, but no one has deliberately singled them out for ridicule.

Gender equality.  I think the movement for equal rights  has gone overboard. Women cannot strive for equal treatment in all aspects of life. For example, only men can do some physically demanding jobs. Certain occupations, such as babysitting, are more suitable for women. I often read about women complaining of being treated unfairly at work. They say men have more senior posts. But actually some successful women prefer to stay home to look after their children.

Homosexuality. The RTHK programme about gays in Hong Kong was controversial. I think it's wrong to discriminate against people  with different sexual preferences. But, I don't support giving more rights to homosexuals because I am Christian. Christianity  disapproves of homosexuality. Although I'm sympathetic to their plight, I don't think gay marriage should be sanctioned.

The problem of underage sex  worries me a lot. Due to more casual attitudes,  many young people today  are having sex. Problems like teenage pregnancies and abortions are common. I often read about young mothers who abandon their newborn babies on the street. It is very sad. The mothers will feel guilty for the rest of their lives, and the babies will become orphans. I think sex education should be strengthened at schools.

The issue of homosexuality concerns me. I often read in the news that they are subject to all kinds of discrimination. Same-sex couples don't have the same rights as heterosexuals. They cannot get married and run into all kinds of discrimination if they come out of the closet. I think sexual orientation is inborn and people have no choice. They should be given protection and treated in the same way as others.
