Speed king hails taxis when in HK
Darryl O'Young plans to put the pedal to the metal as the first Hong Kong Chinese driver to compete in the Porsche Mobil 1 Super Cup circuit in Europe. But on Hong Kong roads, he is a much more sensible driver. 'I don't speed on the street really,' O'Young said at yesterday's Porsche Cayenne launch event. 'I believe in safe driving. I may have been ticketed before, but it was just maybe 70km in a 50km zone or something like that.' The fact is, he rarely gets behind a wheel here. 'Actually in Hong Kong I take taxis a lot. It's so much easier to get around and so much quicker.' For Europe, the 26-year-old driver suggests he has had enough experience that he won't forget which side of the road to drive on. 'The key is you always should be driving in the centre of the road,' he said. 'I can jump into a race car whether it's left-hand drive or right-hand drive, no problem.'
Also at the event was Doha Games gold medal windsurfer Chan King-yin, who said he plans to marry in December.
