Fanny To Ka-yee, 28, leads the Gimme Dance troupe in a show organised by City University students.

The show, Step to Danz offered an eclectic mix of French hip hop, jazz funk and R 'n' B and provided the backdrop for more than 30 performers in a showcase organised by four CityU Community College students on Thursday night.

The second year students organised the performance as part of their final year project for their associate degree of arts in bilingual communication studies, specialising in French and English.

Tenny Wong Ping-yuk, who was tasked with the job of persuading local performers perform free, said the students had asked the dancers to perform to French music to expose the community to a broader range of music styles.

Ms Wong, 22, said the aim of the project was to help young people learn more about dance culture and the French language.

The event also helped improve the students' event management skills.
