Designer Dorian Ho Kwok-ching (below right) had a fruitful time at Bangkok Fashion Week last weekend. The stylist was one of three special guests bestowed with the International Recognition Award. Not only did he receive the honour from Thailand's fashion-obsessed Princess Siriwanwaree Nareeratana, one of his fellow recipients was shoe guru Jimmy Choo (below left). In the schmooze afterwards, Ho may have also found himself a valuable business associate.

'He sold his company three years ago and is running a couture shop in England,' Ho said of Choo. 'Many of my wedding customers also go to him for custom shoes and I told him so. We then talked about working together and offering his shoes through my shop.'

The only wrinkle last week was the protocol of bowing three times for the Thai royalty. 'I hurt my back and I wasn't sure I could bend down. Thing is, Jimmy Choo also hurt his back and asked if he could not bow. After he made the request, I thought I couldn't ask also.'
