'We're ecstatic to achieve back-to-back wins,' said Metro manager Barry Gallagher.

'It was a very strong tournament this year so we had to take every game as it came, but we had a great bunch of guys this year, a good mix of young players and experienced footballers, and that was so important to the make-up of the team.'

Tuoro got Metro off to a flying start in the final with a try near the posts following a forward drive, with Lachie Munro supplying the conversion.

Metro dominated for much of the game but some outstanding Penguins defence kept the Kiwis at bay until six minutes from time when Simon Munro grabbed an intercept try and followed up with another score two minutes later to put Metro 17-0 ahead.

Tuoro barged over for the fourth try just before the final whistle and another Lachie Munro conversion wrapped up the scoring.

Gallagher admitted his team's second try had been crucial. 'Seven points is never enough, especially against a side like the Penguins, and we knew we had to score first in the second half to put them away,' he said.

Penguins had earlier ended All Black great Jonah Lomu's hopes of landing the trophy when they defeated his HSBC New Zealand Legends 28-17 in the quarter-finals. But Lomu, who has astonished medical experts by returning to senior rugby after a kidney transplant almost three years ago, was still a happy man.

'It's great to be here and I'm just glad to be playing,' he said.

'I've enjoyed the tournament immensely. This is my first hit-out of the year and it was just great to get out there and be part of it.'

Penguins overcame another Kiwi team, the number two seeded Aliens, 7-5 in a thrilling semi-final while Metro disposed of Fijian club side Davetalevu, the fourth seeds, 31-0.

The Irish Vikings captured the Plate with a 34-12 victory over IBW Cardiff University while the hosts, CBRE Club, were 52-12 winners of the Bowl final against another Hong Kong team, DeA Tigers.
