Salesman Mike pitches in

InvestHK director-general Mike Rowse (pictured) has seen a few Sevens in his time and knows only too well the game that is played off the pitch.

'The Sevens has got to be the greatest 'soft-sell' opportunity in the history of the universe,' says the man whose job it is to sell the city to the world.

'The people we ask are from nine areas that are key to Hong Kong. They are business and professional services, financial services, consumer retail and sourcing, transportation and logistics, tourism and entertainment, multi-media, IT, Telecom, and lastly, technology, with a biotech and electronic emphasis.

'One of the guests I particularly remember was a sourcing head from a supermarket chain. These sort of businesses put huge revenue through Hong Kong. Sourcing in particular is a big area to improve our economy even further. Even a small company of this nature here will use a variety of services; legal, accounting, logistics and financial services among them.'
