Light load for pupils

THE weight on students' shoulders is expected to be reduced with guidelines soon to be issued to advise teachers on how to help trim the load of school bags and make homework more fun.

It is the first time the Education Department has issued guidelines on the packing of school bags.

A draft suggests schools minimise the number of supplementary exercises and arrange timetables with a balance on the quantity of books needed every day.

Schools will be encouraged to provide lockers or other facilities for pupils to leave their belongings in overnight.
