Improved measures for vegetable imports in place

The Health, Welfare and Food Bureau said yesterday the implementation of enhanced inspection and quarantine measures by mainland authorities to regulate and control the source of vegetables supplied to Hong Kong from Sunday had been smooth. A bureau spokesman said the mainland initiated the new system to ensure vegetables are properly labelled before export to Hong Kong. Swifter tracing of sources will enable the authorities to identify any problems and take necessary action.
