I know I am catching on to the skinny-jeans-tucked-into-boots trend late but I'd still like to give it a go.
Could you please advise where I can buy skinny jeans that can be easily tucked into knee-high boots with minimal bulk around the knee? Something cheap and cheerful from a local shop would be ideal as I cannot imagine the trend lasting much longer (hopefully it is not already passe).

The Dictator rules: Don't worry, you're fine - especially if you think 'horsy' is a compliment. We'd worry less about the bulk at the knee and more about the natural bulk around your thighs. In our opinion, only a tiny percentage of the population should be seen in skinny jeans. Add boots to the equation and that number drops even further. I can tell you're champing at the bit, so here we go. Those super-skinny jeans we first saw on Kate Moss some time ago were by Superfine (from HK$2,100 to HK$2,900; Lane Crawford, IFC Mall, Central, tel: 2118 7777; also sold at Shine, shop B, U/G, 50 Wellington Street, Central, tel: 3426 9080). Famous for toeing the line between sexy and raunchy, Miss Sixty has a range of styles (HK$1,060 to HK$1,912; shop B, G/F, Vienna Mansion, Causeway Bay, tel: 2892 0905). We like the J-Lot, which comes in various washes, including the paper-thin Second Skin (HK$1,290). Try the Binky and Eden cuts as well. Good old Apple Shop does slim-straight and slender-straight styles (HK$695 to HK$895; 522 Lockhart Road, Causeway Bay, tel: 2832 7901). Still not cheap enough? We love Bossini's Cigarette Cut jeans in deep indigo blue for HK$199, as well as the slim fit in mid-blue for HK$165 (44 Granville Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2368 5866). If random strangers start talking to you about bridles and saddles, you'll know why.
I had a black, plain, floor-length skirt I wore to formal events and, by mistake, it was thrown out (I don't want to talk about it). It was stretchy (but not in a trashy-stirrup-pants way) and had enough weight to flow nicely when I moved. I want to replace it. To compound my problem I am only 158cm tall and have a budget of about HK$1,200. Help!
