Police arrested a Vietnamese couple who allegedly used fake HK$1,000 banknotes at the JW Marriott Hotel in Admiralty. Police told TVB the couple had more than 30 fake notes. They had paid the hotel with 12 HK$1,000 notes on Tuesday and investigations found 11 of them were counterfeits of HSBC notes issued in 2002. The Commercial Crime Bureau seized the couple's luggage for examination. A spokesman said it was not yet confirmed whether this case is linked to the recent flood of fake bills, which has seen 1,889 fakes found in the past month.
