Mr Simons joins HSBC after eight years at Credit Suisse, most recently as head of leveraged finance, non-Japan Asia. He will lead HSBC's efforts in Asia to extend and expand the bank's capabilities in event-driven investment grade and non-investment grade financing.

Mr Rainsford has had extensive involvement with global hedge fund groups in the Asia-Pacific region. He has worked for Jardine Fleming Group and, after Jardine Fleming merged with JPMorgan and Chase Manhattan, became head of North Asian listed derivatives for JPMorgan.
