A suspected burglar was found dead on the ground floor of the courtyard of a building in Sai Ying Pun yesterday. The Hong Kong man, 34, was originally from the mainland. He was believed to have fallen as he tried to climb down the drainpipes from the roof of a four-storey building at about 11am. Police suspect that he was attempting to break into a flat on the second floor. A mainland travel document was discovered on the body, while a bag, which carried an umbrella and some newspapers, was found near the window of a flat on the third floor. The man was certified dead at the scene. Neighbours said they had never seen the man before.
