Darryl O'Young found out just how tough racing can be at the top as he experienced mixed fortunes in the opening rounds of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in Bahrain yesterday.

The Hong Kong driver's first foray in top-class European racing ended prematurely in round two when he crashed out just three laps into the race - although he was not at fault.

O'Young had finished an encouraging 10th out of 29 cars in round one and had moved to 12th place in round two when disaster struck.

O'Young's Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car spun round and into the path of the hard-charging pack when another car hurtled into him. When his car was hit a second time, the massive impact broke the radiator, prematurely ending the team's second outing.

O'Young was not hurt, but was shaken up by the experience as he gained first-hand experience as to how aggressive the field can be.
