When the drama began, Bob Cratchit - Scrooge's 'housekeeper' in this version - was master of ceremonies. He invited the audience to enjoy the show and join in, clap along when the cast sang, and give instant responses as the drama developed.

It was a whole new way to do a play. Chunky Onion even invited three of our schoolmates onto the stage.

Instead of a quiet and serious atmosphere, we all enjoyed the interaction between the audience and the actors.

The performance was excellent. It gave us an opportunity to enjoy the classic story on stage, and a great chance to learn English at the same time.

Afterwards, we had a tea party with the cast. We shared our opinions and had a very nice chat.

We learned a lot and it was a really unforgettable experience for the students.

Quarry Bay School

Year Six pupils were all smiles when showing off their Rubik's Cubes donated by Toy's R Us Asia Marketing Manager Rhys Bradley at the New Inventors Expo Day.

We would like to thank him for judging the competition, for his generosity, for his excellent advice and for sharing his experience in launching a product with us.

Thirty six teams (comprising 120 Year Six students) had to come up with an invention and then use marketing strategies to launch the product.

It was a trial unit of study developed as part of the Primary Years Programme, which Quarry Bay School children have now completed.

Parents were invited to the event to see their children present their products.

Everyone had a memorable day. The products covered a range of practical, novel and futuristic ideas.

They ranged from the Flexi Tent, (one size suits all), to the Virtual Reality Skipping Ropes, the No-Spill Pourer and the Unbreakable Crayons.

The play, We Wish You a Hippy Christmas, was written by Perry Bayer, our native English teacher, to help us experience a western-style Christmas. He directed the 20-minute pantomime and co-ordinated props, costumes and sets with our local teacher Lee Mei-ling. Vincent

Yuen, our classmate, played Father Christmas. When he said, 'Ho ho ho!' in a deep, merry voice it made us all laugh.

The best characte was Mother Christmas, Father Christmas' grumpy wife. I liked the way that she was strict, but really kind underneath.

Overall, it was a great experience.
