Limited tickets to go on sale for Red Devils' Macau visit

Organisers of July's Manchester United's pre-season tour of Macau are relishing the prospect of a star-studded line-up making their first-ever appearance in the former Portuguese enclave as treble winners.

United have finalised a pre-season tour in the summer that will also take them to Japan, South Korea and Malaysia and there is a real chance the English giants will play in Macau as the Premiership, FA Cup and Champions League champions.

The bulk of tickets have been reserved for corporate sponsors but a limited number of tickets will go on sale at a cost of HK$300, $600 and $900.

If they manage to complete the treble, it will match their feat of 1999 when they travelled to Hong Kong for a pre-season match. The English Premiership leaders will start their tour in Tokyo's suburbs against the Urawa Red Diamonds on July 17 at Saitama Stadium. They then travel to the South Korean capital to face FC Seoul three days later, before moving to Macau to play mainland side, Shenzhen Xiangxue Eifiti, at the 16,000-seater Macau Stadium on July 23.

Sir Alex Ferguson's men complete their Asian tour by playing in Kuala Lumpur on July 27 against a Malaysian XI at the Bukit Jalil Stadium. 'We're all hoping they will travel to Macau as treble winners,' said United's marketing manager for Asia, Rob James. 'We're really hoping that's the case. We believe United will be sending their strongest squad.'

United are unlikely to have the services of two players on tour as they will be involved in the Asian Cup - South Korea's Park Ji-sung and Chinese striker Dong Fangzhuo.

'Obviously, we want a full team coming to Macau and there's a good chance we will see that,' said James.
