Hong Kong enjoyed one of their greatest successes on the pro tour when they captured three gold and two silver medals at the Chile Open. Jiang Huajun got the ball rolling when she beat Japan's Sayaka Hirano for the women's singles title. Tie Yana and Zhang Rui then won the women's doubles, beating compatriots Jiang and Lin Ling in the final. Hong Kong's third gold came in the men's doubles where Olympic silver medallists Ko Lai-chak and Li Ching came from behind to beat Singapore's Gao Ning and Yang Zi. The SAR's second silver was won by youngster Tang Peng, who lost a seven-game thriller to Kan Yo of Japan in the men's singles final.
