Anyone who saw Hussein Chalayan's spring/summer 2007 runway show might have doubts about wearing hi-tech dresses that electronically change shape. Rest assured, however, that those pieces of fashion wizardry, crafted by the team responsible for the hippogriff in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, will remain showpieces. Beyond the theatrics, this is a tailored collection contrasted with delicate fabrics. Try the chiffon cocktail dress (above; HK$7,190) with wide black straps and featuring a kaleidoscopic print reminiscent of an exploding supernova, overlaid with sheer black net. For a modern ballerina look, opt for the dusty pink cocktail dress with a layered tulle skirt and a unique double-layered bodice (HK$8,590). Hussein Chalayan is available at D-Mop, On Lan Street, Central, tel: 2840 0822.
