Seventy people were evacuated from their homes for two hours yesterday after a suspected wartime bomb was found in Shau Kei Wan, but the object turned out to be an empty gas cylinder. Bomb disposal officers were called to a refuse collection station at the junction of Kam Wa and Wang Wa streets at 8.30am when a man reported he may have found a bomb - a rusty 76cm-long cylindrical object with a diameter of 15cm. Police evacuated a neighbouring building before investigation proved the object was harmless.
