BUMPED into the unfailingly scrumptious Terri Chao who is just back from the US of A where she's been enjoying an extended festive break with shipping tycoon hubby Cecil and their infant son Roman.

The highlight of their trip appears to have been front-row seats for Barbra Streisand's New Year's Eve Las Vegas concert where they sat just a few seats away from Michael Jackson (Terri's diagnosis on Jacko: ''He came in late and left early, but looked quite happy and confident of himself.'') The concert itself, Terri commented, was ''more for the older set''.

But for her the real fun was at the cocktail and gala dinner that followed at the MGM Grand Garden.

There the Chaos pressed the flesh and toasted in the New Year with the likes of Rupert Murdoch, Gregory Peck, Michael Douglas, Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford.

Said Terri: ''Everyone was so cool and friendly. It was a wonderful atmosphere.'' She added with a sheepish laugh: ''In fact, I enjoyed myself so much I didn't want to come back to Hong Kong.'' That's hardly surprising. After all, how often would you bump into Michael Douglas and Richard Gere at the same time in Lan Kwai Fong?
