University of Hong Kong names dean of education

Nora Tong

The University of Hong Kong has finally named the dean of education after a search of more than a year.

Shirley Grundy (below), currently head of education at Deakin University in Australia, will become the first female to lead the faculty of education. She will replace Mark Bray, who left in March last year to become director of Unesco's International Institute for Educational Planning. HKU vice-chancellor Tsui Lap-chee said he hoped staff members would support Professor Grundy for the faculty to 'further enhance its leading role in educational research and professional education.'
