The Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation is again looking for young and talented creative types. With sponsorship from a global financial information service, the foundation is organising a project called the Bloomberg Emerging Artists, which will fund and support original works from gifted youngsters.

According to a foundation spokesman, the programme aims to support aspiring artists to come up with innovative projects or a series of works over three months, with the finished works to be shown at an exhibition.

'A lot of schools here do not always have very big art visions. They are not broad enough to introduce contemporary artists to young people,' the spokesman said. 'We see this as a wonderful opportunity to provide them with a platform to get access and a chance to be engaged with the public.'

It also is part of the foundation's continuing efforts to reach out to young people of all cultures, backgrounds and languages. Successful applicants will receive access to a small studio and office space and an allowance of up to HK$100,000 to fund art materials and other needs.

Full details, as well as application details, are available on the foundation's website: www.hkyaf.com/projects/VA/2007/Bloomberg/eng. The deadline is June 4. You can also call at 2877 2207 or 2214 0280.
