Six children will have the chance to go to the US for space training and stargazing this summer. The trip is organised by MassMutual Asia.

Since 1999, MassMutual Jr Space Camp has sponsored children and their parents for space training at the US Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama. The young astronauts will take simulated spacewalks, receive weightlessness training and ride simulated space shuttles.

Lectures on the latest developments in aerospace technology will also be held.

The programme, with the slogan 'It is Possible! Reach for the stars!', aims to help children realise their dreams and explore the unknown.

'Through overcoming challenges at the space centre, children will learn the importance of perseverance in the face of adversities,' said Jeanne Sau, senior vice-president, marketing support, at MassMutual Asia. 'The programmes are designed to nurture their creativity and critical thinking skills. We want the children to know that they can overcome any challenge.'

The programme is open to seven- to 11-year-olds. Applicants have to submit a creative work (it can be anything from a song, essay to model) together with a parent-child photo to MassMutual Asia's office in person on June 24. For details, call 2919 9723.
