Surrounded by high-rise flats, 800-year-old Nga Tsin Wai in Wong Tai Sin is the last walled village in Hong Kong's urban area but it is under threat of demolition. In a disputed project, the Urban Renewal Authority plans to redevelop the area. Developer Cheung Kong now owns 80 per cent of property rights. Despite campaigning by activists, only a clan hall, temple and an ancient arch may be preserved.
