HKIEd launches 'voucher quality' centre

Nora Tong

The Hong Kong Institute of Education yesterday launched a centre to support preschools preparing for the quality inspections that will be carried out as part of the education voucher scheme. Staff from the institute will help kindergartens with self-evaluation and assessments of children, as well as run courses to equip teachers with skills in these areas. Around 300 preschool heads and teachers from 180 kindergartens attended a briefing yesterday while 60 kindergartens have signed up for the service in 2007-8. Kindergartens that have failed quality inspections over the next few years will be excluded from the voucher scheme from 2012-13 on.
