A design by 18-year-old Ip Wai-ting, a student at SKH All Saint's Middle School, has been selected to feature on Wellcome's environmentally friendly bags for 2007-2008.

Her design, along with 16 others, will be on display until July 27 at Westwood Wellcome Superstore, Harbour City and Taikoo Place.

In January, the supermarket joined hands with the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation and organised the Wellcome Reusable Bag Design Project.

Under the guidance of renowned local comic artists Siu Hak and Stella So, 17 selected students observed the shopping patterns in people's daily lives and used the research data as inspiration to design environmentally friendly bags. The students' designs show the importance of environmental protection from a young person's perspective.

When Wellcome first launched the Bring Your Own Bag campaign in 2005, students from more than 1,300 primary and secondary schools were invited to create a visual design for an eco-friendly bag under the theme of environmental protection.

The Youth Arts Foundation organised the Wellcome Reusable Bag Design Project to continue spreading the green message.

A limited edition of 10,000 bags featuring Wai-ting's design will soon be available in all Wellcome stores.
