It's no iPod nano-killer but the glossy K3 digital audio player has a sleek, smart design that warrants an argument in its favour. Part of Samsung Electronics' YP series, the K3 is ultra-slim - measuring 44mm x 96mm x 6.95mm - and weighs 50 grams. It has a 1.8-inch colour screen with magnesium finish that is a tad bigger than the nano's 1.5-inch display. It features touch-sensitive controls that glow with an icy blue light, guiding users to its multimedia functions. The graphical user interface offers trendy fluorescent blue icons that help make navigation a snap.
Users are encouraged to subscribe to legitimate MP3 download services because the device supports the Windows Media Audio digital rights management system. It has a JPEG-format viewer to create personalised slideshows set to music, customisable equaliser and a built-in FM radio tuner, with auto-scan and presets. It also comes with ergonomically designed earphones, providing a brass-enhancing stereo experience and reduced ambient noise. The K3 MP3 player - available in red, green or black - comes in three storage capacities, priced at HK$998 (1 gigabyte), HK$1,198 (2GB) and HK$1,598 (4GB).
